Agafay desert day pass: lunch and pool with desert views

The Agafay desert is a landscape of bare, rolling hills 30 to 45 minutes from Marrakech, with the Atlas Mountains on the horizon. A day pass, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, gives you a place by the pool at a desert camp, lunch served on site and the afternoon to enjoy the view, without staying the night.

How it works

  1. Arrival at the camp

The pass starts at 1:00 pm. You are shown to the pool area, with loungers and shaded seating facing the hills.

  2. Pool and desert views

The pool is yours for the day. Around it, the camp looks out over the bare hills of the Agafay and, on clear days, the snow of the Atlas.

  3. Lunch

Lunch is served at the camp, usually Moroccan dishes, with time to linger afterwards.

  4. Afternoon

The afternoon is free for the pool, a walk into the hills or simply the silence. The pass ends at 6:00 pm, in time to drive back before dark.

About this activity

The Agafay is the closest desert to Marrakech: a wide stretch of bare hills, dry riverbeds and the occasional olive grove, with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. It is far enough to feel removed from the city and close enough to visit for the day, which is what the day pass is for.

You spend the day at a desert camp with a pool. The pool area faces the hills, lunch is served on site, and the afternoon is yours. There is no programme to follow: some guests spend the whole day by the water, others add a quad or camel ride nearby in the late afternoon.

We choose the camp according to your group, the day and the atmosphere you are looking for, and we can arrange a private transfer from wherever you are staying in Marrakech so that nobody has to drive.

Questions about the agafay day pass

How far is the Agafay desert from Marrakech?

About 30 to 45 minutes by car from the city centre, depending on the camp and the traffic.

Is the Agafay a sand desert?

No. The Agafay is a stone desert of bare, rolling hills, which is why it can be visited as a day trip from Marrakech. The sand dunes of the Sahara are a full day's drive further.

Can we stay for dinner instead?

Yes. The night pass combines the pool with dinner and evening entertainment. You can also combine both for a full day and evening.
